The acoustical upgrades resulted in a dramatically improved envelope for performance.

Modular reflectors harness the acoustical volume of the ceiling above, lighting upgrades are tuned to the needs of performances and rehearsals, and adjustable variegated wall panels hone the acoustics of the Hall.

The design features several goals: to increase the performance of the room for a dramatic improvement in sound, to create a focus on the musicians at the front of the room, and to add character by introducing the material warmth of a traditional orchestra shell.

The original prosaic auditorium was transformed to become a memorable campus space.

Puglisi Hall
As a key venue for the Department of Music at the University of Delaware, Puglisi Hall in the Roselle Center for the Performing Arts supports an active and diverse academic and performance program for students, faculty, the community, and visitors. The multi-purpose room is designed for rehearsal and events including orchestra and band, wind ensembles, early music ensembles, jazz groups, and choral performances. As the first phase of a larger masterplan process to revitalize the Roselle Center, Puglisi Hall was identified for renovations to improve the acoustic, aesthetic, and functional properties of the room.
