Morgan Hall’s exterior walls are studied in pattern and scale. Clear glass for view, translucent glass and solid panels for privacy, operable windows for ventilation, and projected bays for space are the practical kit of parts for a functional and beautiful space.

Morgan Hall
Temple University

As a signature project in Temple’s ten-year program of transforming its diverse urban campus, Morgan Hall is both the announcement of the University along the approach from downtown Philadelphia and the culmination of the main pedestrian spine, Liacouras Walk, that unites the campus. The project encompasses a full city block with student residences, food services, infrastructure, and retail spaces.

Morgan Hall consists of two primary residential buildings, a slim tower to the north and an L-shaped midrise, as well as a dining hall along the Broad Street corridor. Together, these buildings form a large new courtyard and significant new campus green space that unites the entire complex as a destination. Temple senior leadership chose to fund the project entirely, rather than engage a developer, in order to achieve higher quality and long-term value for their investment.
