Early Childhood Program
Germantown Friends School

As an independent Quaker school founded in 1845, Germantown Friends is focused on the philosophy that Learning is for Life. They view the years from early childhood through twelfth grade as just one chapter in a lifetime learning adventure. With a thriving campus in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, the school educates students from throughout the City and the surrounding suburbs. A significant number of students commute from Center City, and so the School sought to ease the transition of its youngest students by providing an Early Childhood location in the heart of the City.

MGA began working with GFS on a study to determine the best location for a new satellite campus. After deciding on a prime location in the Curtis Building, directly across from Washington Square, MGA designed the new Early Childhood facility. The project includes over 10,000 square feet of space, including four classrooms, a maker studio for art and science, a movement studio with active climbing and exploration wall, an after-school studio that can be used for event space, administration offices, and a catering kitchen. As a satellite campus, the Early Childhood Program is a feeder to the Main Campus in Germantown.
